YTV of Canada,"Twisteeria"
A half-hour stop-motion animation / live-action special
for YTV of Canada, winner of the 1999 Leo Awards "Best Animated Program"
and nominated for (4) 1999 Gemini Awards Starring Tom Cavanagh,
Created by writer Tony Philpott, David Bowes and Lisa-Jane
Gray. "TWISTEERIA" (Animation Director David Bowes, Art
Director Lisa-Jane Gray, Live-action Director Andrew Currie) featured
32 foam rubber latex characters (fabrication under the direction of Jon
Craney) and over 52 miniature sets: From restaurant critic sharks
riding mopeds, singing gargoyles high above the city, to two terrible
twin trolls with a not so honest business of towing. All based on the
"12 Original Tongue Twisters" copyright Bowes Productions 1994
written by David Bowes and Lisa-Jane Gray. Produced with Scintilla Entertainment.
Fuji Television Corporation, "The Big Blue Ball"
Created and produced the clay animated short entitled "The Big Blue Ball" using the song "The Big Blue Ball" produced by The Brothers Four, out of Seattle. The piece was featured on the Japanese children's show "Hirake Ponkiki" and was created for environmental awareness. Wasserman & Partners Inc.,
Hemorrhage Hank and Li'l Snicker"
Created two 30 second spots using (2) clay characters Hank and
Snicker which were combined with line drawn backgrounds to create a unique
way of informing children of crosswalk signals and the importance of wearing
safety equipment while on roller blades. Fuji Television Corporation "Tongue Twisters" Completed 5 English speaking tongue twisters using clay animation for the series "Hirake Ponkiki", Tokyo, Japan - the Japanese equivalent of the North American "Sesame Street". Fuji Television Corporation "Monty Gluey" Chosen by World Media Service to create a one-minute clay animated English language segment for Fuji Television's "Hirake Ponkiki" series. The clay character "Monty Gluey" was stuck to bubble gum in front of a candy shop late at night, singing to the viewers the difference between "Icky and Sticky and Gooey and Gluey". - "Psychapoo" Produced two clay-animated segments for the one-hour prime
time CBC children's special produced by Calico Pix Inc./A.P.
Productions, and funded by CBC, Telefilm Canada, Ontario
Film Development Corp., and Rogers Telefund. The two segments
were created following the poems "Psychapoo" and "The Sitter
and the Butter and the Better Batter Fritter", by well-known Canadian
author Dennis Lee. The production has been presented to an international
audience, and has been aired on the Disney channel and is presently
available through Video Distribution. "Take-Off" Friday Street Prductions Created seven minutes of clay animation for the children's television series "Take-Off", produced by Friday Street Productions and sponsored by Telefilm Canada. It is presently being aired on local networks across Canada, including the Family Channel, and has been aired to international audiences.
