Rob's exposure to film came at an early age in his hometown of Thousand Oaks in Ventura County, North of Los Angeles, when at the age of 12, his teacher made it a Friday afternoon ritual of showing such films as "Phantom of the Opera". A trip to Forrest J. Ackerman's mansion, publisher of Famous Monsters of Filmland Magazine, to see first hand original Sci-fi Horror Film Props, Costumes, and other Artwork, left a lasting impression on Rob. Classic works by Dr. Ray Harryhausen, David Allen, and Phil Tippet, inspired Rob to get involved in the film effects industry, and a good friend Jon Berg taught him many tips and tricks to fabricating a first class puppet.

Sci-fi and Monster Movie watching and producing amateurSuper-8 Movies with a friend, further inspired Rob to pursue his classroom education at Moorpark Community College where he majored in Cinematography. He later added a 6-month Make-up Artist Program to expand his training. Rob is nothing short of a genius when it comes to Sculpting, Mold Making, Armature Construction, Casting, Air Brushing, and utilizing many mediums from Clay, Urethane, Silicone, to Foam Rubber Latex. His leadership in a department can be noticed through his innovative, creative, problem solving and vast knowledge of techniques. Rob is a valued addition to Bowes Productions Creative Team.
