Jim Pescitelli
Producer, Production Manager
Jim has been working in the film industry for over
four years exclusively with Bowes Productions. His first project in animation
was on the YTV Halloween Special "Twisteeria", winner of the 1999
Leo
Award for "Best Animation" and nominated for four 1999 Gemini awards.
Starting in the role of Set Builder and Prop Designer, Jim later transferred
into the Puppet Department where he built armatures, injected foam molds and
dressed puppets to completion. Jim tried his hand at stop-motion animation,
where he discovered the magic of bringing puppets to life. His experience
in management and talents as an artist were quickly recognized, and upon completion
of "Twisteeria", he found himself interested in a career as Production
Manager. Since that time, his credits as a Production Manager, include work
on such commercials as McDonald's Restaurant "The Big Cheese Event",
ICBC "Cheque Unfold", Telus "Short Film", Orca Bay "New
Grit" and "G Strategy". As part of a select crew with Bowes,
Jim worked in Calgary, Alberta, on the animated portion of the Paramount Pictures
/ Nickelodeons feature film "Snow Day". Being versatile, Jim's list
of credits include work on the public broadcast commercials "Hemorrhage
Hank and Lil' Snicker" and on the character designs for the "Injury
Free Zone" website. Further experience as a Producer was gained on the
Sexton Entertainment / Hallmark Entertainment's four hour mini series "Voyage
of the Unicorn" starring Beau Bridges.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Jim recalls that he started to paint
at an early age and
now
finds himself 30 years later absorbed with painting watercolors, oils, and
acrylics. Growing up influenced by the work of famous artists, Picasso, Giacometti
and Brancusi, Jim's interests in art lead him to attend Red River Community
College, to complete a Commercial Arts Program. After completing the program,
Jim worked as a Billboard painter and landed a few Acting jobs, appearing
in Television Ads and in Newspapers. He began his retail management career
with Coles Bookstores and then entered into marketing and sales with MacMillan
N.A.L. Publishing, as a District Sales Manager with the Hardcover Book Division.
Within the year, he started working with Warner Publishing Services, known
today as AOL Time Warner. As a District Sales Manager, he covered all wholesale
and retails accounts in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Northern Ontario Territory.
After four years Jim was offered a position with Telemedia Inc., for "TV
Guide".
Jim's
success in the world of Publishing allowed him and his family to move to Vancouver.
His keen interest in art drew him to attend the Vancouver Institute of Media
Arts (VANARTS), Classical Animation Program. The adventure into the world
of film started with an interview at Bowes Productions, where Jim's talents
and enthusiasm continues today. To add to his artistic talent, Jim continues
with his love of art in his sculpting of private and gallery pieces from marble,
granite, metal, clay and wood.
