Jeff Mulcaster
Director, Key Animator
Jeff has been a Key Animator and Director for over fourteen years. He won his first award in the form of an "Emmy" for "Outstanding Individual Achievement" for his work on "Claymation Comedy of Horrors". His second award was a (personal) "Clio" for his work on the prestigious Nissan commercial spot "Toys", which earned a "Clio" and a "Bronze Cannes Lion. His credits include work on the "Emmy" nominee TV Specials "Meet the Raisins" and "The Raisins, Sold Out", in addition to the "Emmy" award winner "Claymation Christmas", all produced at Will Vinton's Studios, in Portland, Oregon.
His
time in Portland lead Jeff to work on a variety of distinguished commercials
such as the "California Raisins", "Nintendo Tetris Blast",
"Fuji Videotape", "Heineken Beer", "Colgate Toothbrushes"
and "Barbie Doll" toy spots. During this time, he spent three years
working on the memorable Primetime Fox Television Series "The PJ's",
Produced by Eddie Murphy and Ron Howard. To mention a few credits with Bowes
Productions, Jeff was one of the Key Animators on the Leo Award winner and
(4) Gemini nominee "Twisteeria", Paramount Pictures' "Snow
Day" and Hallmark Entertainment's "Voyage of the Unicorn".
Jeff's
first attempt at Stop-Motion / Clay Animation came at the age of twelve, and
was again revitalized six years later when a friend introduced him to Super
8 film as a hobby. He experimented over the next couple of years and became
increasingly fascinated with the clay animation that was being produced at
that time, by the likes of the incredibly talented Clay Animator Barry Bruce.
Leaving BC's Sunshine Coast in the spring of 1986, he pursued his professional
animation career in Portland, Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Jeff's skills
in sculpting, action and secondary movement, all took their biggest leap when
working on Michael Jackson's "Speed Demon" video, for the feature
film "Moonwalker", resulting in his recognition amongst his peers
as a high-end professional Stop Motion / Clay Animator.
As
a freelancer, Jeff has had the opportunity to work on various independent
films which include "Der Fallende Traum", "When the Stars Came
Dreaming" and the MTV video "Chemical". His most recent production,
in the role of Producer, Director and Animator, was for the commercial spot
entitled "Bad Attitude", winner of a Silver Award at the Flagstaff
Worldfest. Being a high-end professional and world-class animator, Jeff continues
to be a valuable asset and complimentary addition to Bowes Productions and
Associates.
