Gary has lived and worked in Los Angeles for the last 13 years as a Visual FX Artist, collaborating with some of the most recognizable FX people in Hollywood. He started as a modelmaker at Introvision International, where he worked on such films as "The Fugitive", "Out on a Limb", and "Army of Darkness". In 1995, Gary launched Glacier Entertainment as an independent visual effects company. From there, his career expanded to contract work with a variety of companies to include "Apogee", "Foundation Imaging", "Wonderworks", "Stargate Films", "Image Entertainment", "Dave Sharp Productions" and "Don Pennington Inc.". His work with Don Pennington as a co-lead in the model department lead Gary to be part of the two year, 20th Century Fox production "Titanic", winner of 11 Academy Awards. Additional works on Feature Films comprise of such recognized movies as: "Mission Impossible II", "Vertical Limit", "Muppets from Space", "Mighty Joe Young", "Mafia", "Spy Hard", "The Arrival", "Hellraiser IV", "Batman Forever", "Waterworld", and "Lethal Weapon II". As well as his experience on features, Gary has numerous international TV ads and TV series work to include "Power Rangers", "J.J. The Jet Plane", "Babylon 5 (Pilot)", "Star Trek DS9", and "V.R. Troopers".
Originally
inspired by sci-fi movies at an early age, Gary found himself collecting info
on Special Effects and reading behind the scene facts. He followed his interest
by attending Camosun College, in Victoria, British Columbia, where he received
an Associates of Art degree, followed by attending Columbia College in Hollywood.
During college he was bitten by the film bug while working on various film
projects. After graduating, Gary entered the world of film as an intern in
the Art Department of the film "Nowhere to Run", a Roger Corman
production.
Besides
modelmaking, Gary's other talents include sculpting, prop fabrication, costumes,
custom set pieces, miniatures, and toy prototypes. He also adds experience
in the role of FX Coordinator, Shop Supervisor, Production Manager, Scriptwriter
and Director. With every production you have your talented, focused, organized,
team leader, and we at Bowes Productions are pleased to offer these skills
and experience through Gary at Glacier Entertainment. In turn, Gary is looking
